Spring 2019 Applications Open October 1-21, 2018

The International Ambassadors Program offers multiple roles to engage with new international students and to be involved in the orientation process to play an integral role in the new student experience during the first few days on campus. Additional perks include free meals during the Orientation Programs, a t-shirt + swag, early move-in for undergraduate students, and life-long friendships with new Hoyas!

Spring 2019 Positions:

International Ambassador Leaders are international students who demonstrate initiative and leadership skills prior to and during orientation. Upon successful completion of the following duties, Leaders will be awarded a stipend in the form of GOCard debit dollars.

  • Manage communication among Ambassadors and student groups prior to orientation
  • Host one pre-arrival webinar for incoming students prior to orientation
  • Coordinate the Words of Wisdom Panel Discussion with Ambassadors
  • Plan and coordinate an evening activity during orientation

International Ambassador are volunteers who:

  • Serve as a point of contact for general questions from about 10-15 incoming students via email prior to the beginning of the semester
  • Facilitate and lead activities during orientation program
  • Guide new international students through transition into U.S. culture and life at Georgetown
  • Provide organizational assistance to OGS during orientation, such as assisting with event set-up and clean-up, staffing check-in tables, assisting speakers, etc.

Fall 2019 Positions:

International Ambassador Coordinators are international students who, upon successful completion of the following duties, are awarded a stipend in the form of GOCard debit dollars.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for International Ambassadors prior to orientation
  • Host one pre-arrival webinar for incoming students prior to orientation
  • Assist with organizational logistics during all orientation events
  • Plan and coordinate Ambassador outings during orientation

International Department Mentors (DMs) are international graduate student volunteers who serve remotely as a mentor to incoming students in their academic program prior to orientation.
