The name of the form may not make any sense, but you are considered an exempt individual if you qualify as a nonresident alien for tax purposes. This is the form everyone in F or J status must file. You must file a separate Form 8843 for you AND each of your dependents.

  • U.S. Taxpayer ID Number: Leave blank if you are only filing the Form 8843. No SSN or ITIN needed.

    • 4b. Days to Exclude from Substantial Presence Test = Number of Days in F-1/J-1 Status in 2018
