On-Campus employment is work performed on the premises of Georgetown University, including employment with the Medical Center or any on-location commercial firms which provide direct services for students on campus.
The eligibility and employment verification processes for on-campus employment vary depending on whether the F-1 or J-1 visitor is a current Georgetown student, alumni, or non-GU student. Please see below for information and details regarding eligibility requirements for each category.
- Current GU student in F-1 or J-1 status
- GU alumni and graduates of other U.S. institutions in F-1 or J-1 status must be authorized for post-completion Optional Practical Training. Eligiblity for work that is considered "on-campus" expires on the program end date as listed on their Form I-20 or Form DS-2019.
Please note that current F-1 or J-1 students at other U.S. institutions will require off-campus work authorization, as work at Georgetown is not considered "on-campus". Those students should consult the international student office at their home institution for specific instructions.
