Department Administrator Trainings

There are more than 2,500 international students studying at Georgetown University and we expect this number to continue to grow steadily over the next 10 years. Each of our international students brings unique cultural values and global experiences that enhance the Georgetown community. At the same time, these new Hoyas are international visitors subject to unique laws and restrictive federal regulations that make their academic experience on the hilltop unique.

We look forward to working with you and serving as a resource for you and your students. For an in-depth discussion on topics related to supporting F-1 and J-1 international students, please attend one of our in-person department training sessions or feel free to invite OGS staff to speak to any issues of concern at faculty or staff meetings.

OGS will be adding new content in the next few months. If you have questions the presentations below do not answer, please contact your program’s IS Advisor.

Many Departments on campus will also invite Visiting Researchers, employ Postdoctoral Fellows or other researchers or hire international staff and faculty who will require visa sponsorship. If you are new to processing visa requests for scholars or just simply want a refresher, contact OGS. We are happy to set up one-on-one training meetings that best fit your Department’s needs.
