J-1 Scholars & Student Interns
Welcome to Georgetown University! The goal of Georgetown University’s J-1 Exchange Visitor Program is to promote cultural and educational exchange between international and domestic students, faculty, staff, and community members as well as to promote greater diversity and international awareness within the University community. Components of this program include educational, research, and teaching activities, orientation, cultural exchange programming, cultural adjustment support, logistical support, and immigration advising.

J-1 Scholars
A J-1 Scholar is someone who is in the Professor, Research Scholar, Short-term Scholar, or Specialist category who is primarily engaged in research and/or teaching.
J-1 Student Interns
A J-1 Student Intern is a student who is enrolled at a post-secondary institution outside of the United States conducting an internship at Georgetown University governed by a DS-7002 Training Internship Placement Plan.
